Unlocking Student Potential Through Expert Evaluations

At MindBridge Solutions, our school psychologists specialize in comprehensive assessments to identify and support students with behavioral, emotional, cognitive, academic, and social challenges. We help schools develop data-driven interventions and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote student success.

Our School Psychology
Services Include:

Psychological Evaluations

Psychological evaluations assess a student’s emotional, behavioral, and social functioning to determine how these factors impact their ability to learn and interact with others in school. These assessments are conducted by licensed school psychologists and may include:

  • Behavioral observations in classroom and social settings
  • Interviews with teachers, parents, and students to understand emotional and social challenges
  • Standardized assessments measuring emotional well-being, impulse control, and coping skills

Psychological evaluations help identify conditions such as:

  • Anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, school refusal)
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and social communication difficulties
  • Emotional dysregulation, anger issues, or trauma-related behaviors

Findings from psychological evaluations inform intervention plans, including counseling, behavioral supports, and accommodations to help students manage emotions and succeed in school.

Psychoeducational Evaluations

Psychoeducational evaluations assess both cognitive abilities and academic performance to identify learning strengths and challenges. These assessments measure:

  • Cognitive processing skills (working memory, problem-solving, processing speed, reasoning abilities)
  • Academic achievement (reading, writing, math skills in comparison to grade-level expectations)
  • Executive functioning (attention, organization, task completion, self-regulation)

These evaluations are essential in identifying:

  • Specific learning disabilities (SLD) such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia
  • Giftedness or intellectual disabilities
  • Attention or processing disorders that impact academic performance

Psychoeducational assessments are often used to determine eligibility for special education services, guide Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, and provide recommendations for accommodations like extra time on tests, modified instruction, or assistive technology.

Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) & Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)

When a student displays persistent challenging behaviors that interfere with learning, a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is conducted to determine the underlying causes of the behavior. The FBA process includes:

  • Observation of behavior in different settings (e.g., classroom, lunchroom, playground)
  • Interviews with teachers, parents, and support staff
  • Data collection on triggers (antecedents), behavior patterns, and consequences

Based on FBA results, a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is developed to provide research-backed strategies to support positive behavior change. A BIP may include:

  • Proactive interventions (structured routines, visual supports, sensory accommodations)
  • Reinforcement strategies (positive reinforcement, token systems, behavior contracts)
  • Self-regulation techniques (mindfulness, coping strategies, movement breaks)
  • Crisis intervention plans for students with severe behavioral concerns

FBA and BIP processes are critical in supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges, ensuring they receive interventions tailored to their individual needs.

Counseling as a Related Service

Counseling services in schools provide emotional and behavioral support for students experiencing challenges that impact their academic performance and well-being. School-based counseling can address:

  • Anxiety and stress management
  • Depression and emotional regulation
  • Social skills and peer relationships
  • Self-esteem and confidence-building
  • Coping with trauma, grief, or family challenges
  • Behavioral self-regulation (impulse control, anger management, problem-solving skills)

Counseling services can be provided in individual or group settings and are often included in a student’s IEP or 504 Plan if emotional or behavioral challenges significantly affect their ability to learn. School counselors, psychologists, or social workers work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and students to provide targeted support and crisis intervention when needed.
